PET, HDPE, PVC, Tetra Pak, LDPE, PP… Plastics all have unique, varied material characteristics and different processing requirements. As part of larger MRF systems Pure Cycle Engineering analyse the waste streams and the client’s project goals to create a design to remove and recycle the specific material type.
Plastics can be separated using a variety of methods; Near Infrared, density separation, colour separation, hand picking and many others. PCE have experience of using all methods of plastics processing, not only as part of larger MRF plants, but in dedicated plastic recycling and reprocessing facilities create flake or pellet materials for production of new products.
One of our most recent projects is currently underway for 180,000 tpa of MRF residue input to a full food-grade rPET and cosmetic grade rPE pellet for re-sale. This system utilises the best technology on the market for separation of materials and even uses the residual waste to power the system from on-site waste to energy. We are excited to release more information on this project soon!
